I think email might be a true competitor to MMS if handset-makers would
create email services that is very similar to how MMS services are working
today. If your phone would check for new email once every minute and give
you an alert similar to when you get an MMS then people would soon realize
that MMS is just another way to packet messaging service in favor of
operators.

In the end it's all up to handset makers if they want to challenge
operators in favor of consumers. What do you think?

People will start questioning this when we see the first mobile instant
messaging services I believe. If sending an instant message costs 0,001P
how can operators then charge 40P for an MMS?
