//
// No question is naive :)
what is the new nokia phone that JPhone now sells in japan, that has both
GPRS and domestic (japan) bodafone network connectability? A friend showed
me it. Rather chunky but this is the first phone I can use here and also
abroad (on GSM/GPRS nets). Better than paying through the nose for CDMA
golden passport, at same time as avoid europe...

// Yes, GSM phones are sold in Japan:
//
// 1. DoCoMo sells a dual GSM/PDC model built by NEC (designed long ago)
// 2. J-Phone/Bodafone sells three different dual GSM/wCDMA (3G) models
// 3. Nokia sells overseas GSM phones (including SIM cards) in Japan
// through shops and online - these cannot be used inside Japan
// 4. Some shops in Akihabara sell GSM phones in Japan (without
// SIM cards), which cannot be used inside Japan.
// 5. Japanese handset makers produce and sell GSM phones for export
// to GSM areas. This is in case you need handsets in commercial
// quantities (i.e. 100,000s) :)
//
// Hope this helps.
