Hi,
here is another article mentioning a possible merge between wap
and i-mode escpecially in terms of the markup language (wml/chtml)
and a joint move towards xhtml (the article mentions xtml but
I think they mean xhtml)...
Developer worries see WAP turning Japanese

(URL might break!)
I had a quick look on the w3c page and found a working draft
describing "XHTML Basic" (http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-basic/),
which is a subset of XHTML 1.1 and is supposed to be:
"a minimal set of modules required to be an XHTML Family
document type (...) It is designed for Web clients that
do not support the full set of XHTML features; for example,
Web clients such as mobile phones, PDAs, pagers, and settop
boxes."
authors of the draft:
Masayasu Ishikawa, W3C
Shinichi Matsui, Panasonic
Peter Stark, Phone.com
Toshihiko Yamakami, Access Co., Ltd.
Looks like its (hopefully) still moving into that "one
standard" direction...
I wonder what J-Phone is going to do with MML if i-mode and
wap both go for xhtml...
CU,
Andrea
