 Nick,
You are lucky: What you and the rest of Japanese consumers probably have to
look forward to is a continued focus on consumer-lust-inducing gadgets. We
got our butt's kicked out trying to induce an insane handset-driven market
to focus more on services than handsets, and I wouldn't anticipate anyone
else stupid enough to make the same mistake soon. (although you never
know--one of the new entrants could easily try a different, a'la Tuka, tack
of providing a good, simple, low-cost, no-frills service with very low churn
and very little need to subsidise the newest and best handsets. In fact,
whichever one decides to focus on the 'grey market' (no, not those unlocked
phones, I mean the grannies!) and could capture a good share of that market
will probably do great.)
So, what other gadgets do you reckon SaD (Softbank au DoCoMo) can cram into
the phone?
Anyone want to start a top ten desired features for 2007 list? I will start
with my desired feature (which would naturally end up at 10, but you are all
welcome to re-arrange the previous order).
So, here goes:
1. Night scope feature that uses the camera and an infrared light. Great for
when you stumble in at midnight and don't want to wake the wife and kids,
though you might scare the bejesus out of them with your green glowy face...
Anyone else want to add to this? Just reply.
Best,
Nik
