p800/900 are bricks! auto key lock is pain in the a**. I've cracked the
screen on a nokia 7650 (a true brick), t610 - key lock from hell and a
7210 - keypad from hell. the screen on candybar phones always get scratched.
there worse one i ever had was a nokia 8310. while it was a truly beautiful
phone, the number of cover replacements i bought for it were shocking -
almost monthly.
i used to hate clamshells when i was in England - having to open them to
receive a call. but now i am converted. i just wish all clamshells had the
Panasonic "flip open at the press of a button function" - i love it.

Does one rank the Sony-Ericsson P800/P900 a clamshell? It has kind of
cover for part of the screen.
Anyway, is that really a problem? Before automatic keylocks "pocket
calls" used to happen every now and then but I haven't managed to break
the display or keyboard with non-clamshell phones and don't know anyone
who has. Obviously the screen is typically smaller than in clamshells
and the basic construction needs to be tough, not the flexible plastic
that can be found from some phones.
Personally I find the extra effort to make or answer a call with
clamshell the biggest problem, I want more discrete phone. The size
and weight are also becoming an increasing problem and the clamshells
don't help it at all.
