It would be a step to the side if people were using it for new content.
I don't think they are--I think that they just want the ability to view
existing legacy content as it is, because not all of it is being converted
to a format more suitable for keitai.
I fail to see how going from not being able to view something at all
to being able to view it, albeit in a non-optimal way, is a step
"backwards."
