Subject: (keitai-l) Japan phones that use SIM cards?
I just moved from Japan to the Philippines recently
and am dealing with culture and keitai shock! The
phones here really suck IMHO. They have one cool
advantage though that most are open line and use SIM
cards, meaning that I can swich to a different models
and take my number/carrier with me. My friend from
Australia brough his 5 yr old phone over, got a local
SIM card, and was up and running. The
cost/features/size here are behind Japan though. Most
of the phones are Samsung and Nokia. I just found a
great Panasonic, a new introduction and only the
second flip phone with a color screen and camera that
I found, but the nearly 60,000 yen price is a bit much
for me.
Is it possible to get phones in Japan that use these
cards? Does anyone have any other tips for me?
Please! I feel like I just time slipped back 2 years!
