(keitai-l) J-Phone NEC V-N701 usage overseas

Hi all, 

Does anyone know if it's possible to take the J-Phone V-N701 to a GSM country 
and to insert a SIM card from that country and connect to the local network?

I heard that the the phone is locked to the original SIM card.
