I can't seem to find that info either; however, a decent guess would be
that most products use a software kvm so it can be updated and extended
easily. The only reason I can think of for not using a soft kvm would
be to allow a carrier to maintain a closed system (bad idea). Does
anyone have an example of a modern device with a common vm embedded?
