There'll be some big changes in J-phone this year - expect job cuts,
cultural shake-ups and re-branding (whatever the actual brand name will
be)... all the old guys opening doors for customers in banks kind of
scenario will be buried as this year was the first year JPhone turned out a
loss since 1994 (maybe something to do with open accounting methods , ah yes
that Y200trillion loan write-down to Ishikawa-san from Dai-Ichi Kangyo bank
who I play golf with on Sundays and 20Trillion in "napkin"
entertainment/expenses from our MoF outings...hmm forgot about that).
Vodafone are likely to upset a few people in Japan - not a particularly
harmonious company at the best of times.

FT today talks about their plans for JPhone this year - - - -

"We have to define core areas of growth, we need to create a culture that
makes decisions quickly with real time data...we need products driven by
customer needs, not just technology," said William Morrow, president.

Remember that DoCoMo has been first to market, but Vodafone is a classic
exploiter of second-mover advantage (as with MS in its day)
