DoCoMo to Finally Deliver Video Handset for 3G Trials
June 22, 2001 (TOKYO) -- NTT DoCoMo Inc. will from Monday, June 25, deliver videophone-equipped handsets to participants testing its third-generation cellular phone services, which began May 30, the company said Thursday.
The firm had hoped to introduce the technology, which enables users to view each other while speaking, in time for initial testing, but software bugs forced a delay.
The P2101V handset, produced by Matsushita Communication Industrial Co., Ltd., will be delivered to 700 individuals and 500 firms on June 25-30.
The video-equipped handset is made possible because of the 3G service's revved-up communications speed. Phones containing the debugged software were expected to be delivered in early June, but inspections and further improvements prolonged the delay.

is planning MM here in Europe, but as you know things are much slower.

about any multimedia services/apps in Japan.
