Yo!
Today some stats from Switzerland (62% of the 7mio.-population is mobile)
regarding their phone usage were published by the LINK institute for market
research.
Some interesting numbers (numbers of last year in brackets):
- 11% [13%] of the population intends to buy a mobile phone in the coming
half year
- 55% of the population would choose a Nokia phone (currently 62% [up from
52%] market share)
- prioritized criteria to buy a phone: 1. usability 2. technically
up-to-date 3. nice design 4. light weight
- 25% [up from 13%] of mobile phone owners send more than one short message
per day
- 22% play the built in games in the phones
- 10% use the phone for email and PIM
- 6% for WAP
A summary of it is available in the most read Swiss newspaper (in German):

Comment:
Once more it can be seen that messaging and the so-called unsophisticated
games are used much more than any other services. Switzerland has an
excellent education system, which may be the reason for the relatively high
usage of WAP 1... ;)
