I saw this in the JapanInc. newsletter this morning; kind of interesting. I
wonder where AU will try position itself in the mix...

-> J-Phone IMT-2000 first year target is 600,000

J-Phone Tokyo has set an aggressive target of 600,000
subscribers in the Tokyo region for its new IMT-2000 cell
phone system to launch in December next year. The number is
significantly more than the 100,000 target announced by NTT
for its next-generation system. NTT apparently is saying
that it will use high pricing to choke off any surge of G3
users on the basis that it has limited infrastructure.
***Ed: we don't believe for a minute that they'll allow
J-Phone to get a market lead.**
