8500yen is surprising, it seems like magic, you made it so cheap!
A regular NTT phone costs around 1600yen just for the monthly basic charge,
and of course you pay more monthly if you ever dial out. ADSL never goes
cheaper than around 3000 yen. That's already around 4600, which means
your cell phone bill is about 3900yen, if you don't make any outgoing
calls on your regular phone.
I use YahooBB and BBPhone, with NTT phone contract. YahooBB+BBPhone
costs around 5000 yen a month with regular use, and NTT's monthly basic
charge is about 1600yen. It's almost impossible to find a cell phone
that costs only 1900yen per month, to make the total 8500yen per month.
If you are over 60 years old and don't make outgoing calls, then perhaps
you can get a cell phone contract for 1900yen per month.
In my case, switching to B Flets Mansion type with Hikari Denwa can make
my total monthly bill about 1000yen cheaper.
BTW, I use both au and Willcom, and I don't think switching to Willcom
can make your mobile bill significantly lower. It can even make it
higher, unless you only make calls to fellow Willcom users.
