On FOMA you have the choice of email or SMS.
Only DoCoMo will have all the precise figures,
I have not seen DoCoMo figures for SMS, although
DoCoMo does publish the email volume in detail,
and thats were I have the data from for our
(free) blog.
My personal guess is that the SMS volume on FOMA is
close to zero. I did not send or receive an SMS
on my FOMA phone for years. Probably most Japanese
FOMA users don't even know what this SMS in their
FOMA phone is.

You can ask Vodafone about their mail statistics - maybe they
tell you.
