(keitai-l) Driver for removable storage devices

Does someone know the companies, who develop drivers for  removable
storage devices(SD card, MMC..) on symbian or  windows based mobile
phone?

Where is the driver exactly, built on the OS  for communicating  with
some store applications or between the OS and protocol stacks? and how
does the system works? Is that similar with SIM card?
