excellent speakers. It is open to all if you wish to attend, details are
below -

ICA - Thursday April 21, Special Round Table Event
TOPIC: "Telematics: Consumer Applications Take-off with 3G Mobile"
Join us for the third Joint ICA-Mobile Intelligence Tour Panel Session
including the MIT, a team of seasoned mobile industry professionals
visiting Japan from Europe to network and extract lessons from this
country's world-beating mobile ecosystem (www.mobileeconomy.de/mit
<http://link.bizfunpro.wir.jp/link.ut?u=234&s=142> ).
Telematics, the convergence between vehicles and mobile computing
systems, is about to shake up the way consumers consume data on the
road. Early first-gen devices integrated GPS and car navi systems with
maps, town info and where to buy gas. But as 3G networks and flat-rate
data tariffs take over, telematics applications are expanding to include
"smart" route information as well as audio and video download for
entertainment-hungry road-trippers seeking to keep the kids quiet in
back; mobile payment for products and services delivered to cars are
also on tap. Japan is one of the leading markets for consumer telematics
applications. How will auto makers, telematics vendors and consumers
adopt next-gen telematics devices? And who will make the profits as cool
new apps hit the road?
Special Guest Panelists
-----------------------
Sig Yamada, Global Telematics Portfolio Program Manager, General Motors
Inc.
Yamada-san helps GM formulate Asia-Pacific telematics strategy including
market assessment, service definition and financial projection. He was
responsible for negotiations between GM Japan and local auto partners
resulting in a successful Telematics Collaboration announcement between
Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) and Toyota.
Sed Saad, Telematics Researcher, Waseda University "21st Century Center
of Excellence"
Sed Saad conducts research on telematics and its quest for new business
models at the intersection of different value chains/industries. He
recently authored a report for NTT DoCoMo on which wireless technologies
are most suited to telematics, concluding that future 5G networks
should, in fact, be wholly vehicle-centered. Sed is also a Ph.D.
candidate and continues his research in Korea, Japan and China.
Kevin Meyerson, Founder/Owner/Principal, Rainbow Japan Inc. (Moderator)
Rainbow Partners provides licenses to use technology and databases that
support products and services from AV equipment makers, software
