This company is called FeliCa Networks KK,
and it is jointly owned by SONY, DoCoMo, and JR.
You can find a lot of the details in our
Walletphone report, which actually is currently
downloaded in masses by European telecom
operators and equipment manufacturers! One
Manufacturer in one of the European countries
used our report to sell to the local operator!

Actually, I am also wondering about this - maybe
you, Nik, are one of the best persons to ask:

Since Vodafone purchases/licenses services from
Felica-Networks, isn't that a similar situation
as Fujitsu licensing Symbian (largely owned by
Nokia) from a competing mobile phone handset
maker. Could one say that Vodafone is in that
area a customer of a DoCoMo subsidiary? I guess
with two such very large companies as DoCoMo
and Vodafone, it's now surprising that there
are areas where they purchase services from
each other?
