Good comparison.
I don't know the Doccimo subscription numbers, but if it was
a fantastic success story, then I would know about it.
I use Wifi about five times a year, and I have a WiFi station
at home, but never switched it on. I bought it for YEN 12,000
because I hoped it would cover the first floor and second floor
of my house but it does not - it's really short distance.
I think Japan is an excellent laboratory to check out whether
Wifi can kill 3G.
Another point- I have great admiration for Masayoshi Son and
Softbank: if WiFi was such a great threat for 3G, why is
Masayoshi Son suing the Japanese government for a 3G license?
Why is Masayoshi Son not using WiFi to threaten
DoCoMo & AU & Vodafone?
