I was surprised that Sharp chose Symbian instead of Linux. they
have a lot of experience with Linux PDAs.

also, I wonder where should be the balance point between the OS
provider and (in-house or original/outsourced) handset software
developers. I think MontaVista, based on its experiences with
top handset manufacturers, may want to provide more higher level
"non-OS" features to ease handset development.
actually that's also why DoCoMo and Vodafone want - a common
platform for their providers for better quality and cost control
(anything but Series 60).

beside handsets, how will Linux invade the home appliances like
STB's and DVR's, and factory automation and security products?
