I always believed it was so they could sell their CF card modems and force the subscriber to pay two monthly charges, one for voice, one for data. 

I wonder if this the new love of BT headsets is related to the (long overdue) clamp down on the use of phones while driving?

	(The bill) will impose a tougher penalty on drivers who use mobile phones behind the 
	wheel. They will face fines of up to 50,000 yen. Under the current law, only 
	drivers who "cause danger to traffic" by using mobile phones are fined.

Why  do you think Bluetooth as been so unpopular in Japan?

Is due to some kind of prejudice to western technology?
