The problem with Kodak is that they're the "old photography world" and
haven't adopted that fast to the new world.
Printing digital photos is growing very fast right now and there are a
number of small players in all the markets that take advantage of the
latest hardware to print the images and the possibility to transfer the
images over the Internet for printing. Very typical transition from
analog to digital where the new players can be fast and cost-effective
compared to the old and slow with heavy cost structure.
People are taking more pictures with digital cameras than analog
cameras as a single photo doesn't cost anything. However the print
volumes are going down as one is not forced to develop and print a full
film but just the best shots. Various media servers for flat
screens/TV's and photo slideshows on DVD are also used but the majority
of digital photos are either 1) printed (the best, if any) or 2) stored
somewhere on a PC and pretty much forgotten or lost.
