Tracey:
what Google does is it "makes the ordinary internet accessible
to imode browsers", i.e. it converts as far as possible ordinary
webpages into small chunks visible on an imode phone. The
search space is the whole internet.
Japanese mobile search engines only operate within the search
space of sites formated for imode, so they don't make any
transformations on the sites themselves.
Does that make sense?
