In Akihabara today you can find 128 MB SD-cards, which are exactly what
many phones use today, for under 4500 yen, which is about US$42.

I think this may be a bit of a hasty conclusion. After all, Chaku-uta
and i-Tunes are addressed at very different markets; a person who wants
to listen to his walkman for an hour is not likely to be satisfied with
a hundred 45-second snippets of songs.
