PAL and NTSC are analogue formats and they don't apply to DVDs. The
two standards are associated with different field rates and slightly
different line rates, which do apply to DVDs, but at least in Europe
most TVs accept either and some DVD players are capable of converting
NTSC rates to PAL (though not very well).
