Since the beginning of August, I haven't been able to send email from my
home machine (on YahooBB) to my keitai (on ezweb.ne.jp). I can't even
connect to AU's SMTP server; it just times out. This problem has been
constant for over a month now.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Is my IP on some kind of
blacklist? I have no problems sending anywhere else. I have lots of
relay rejects in my mail log, so I'm definitely not an open relay, and I'm
not in the MAPS RBL. Also, it worked fine until August. And I can send
via mail.yahoo.com, so AU is not backlisting all IPs.
Note that I'm not going through YahooBB's SMTP server, because it is
limited to YahooBB email accounts. Instead, I am using an email address
in my own domain and my own SMTP server from my home machine via YahooBB's
IP service.
According to `dig mx ezweb.ne.jp`, AU's SMTP server is lsean.ezweb.ne.jp,
i.e., 61.117.1.225. But when I `telnet 61.117.1.225 25` it just times
out, e.g.,
telnet: connect to address 61.117.1.225: Connection timed out
The problem is not related to authorized or extended SMTP, is it? I've
never used them before, but my impression from skimming some RFCs is that
they all start with a regular TCP connection to port 25, and I never get
that far.
So I'm curious who else can't (or can) connect to port 25
on lsean.ezweb.ne.jp.
