I'm not sure what the deal is with PHS, but multi-slot definitely has
quite different behaviour from single-slot. On a single-slot (32K) packet
connection, I can get somewhere around 30 Kbps on a TCP/IP data transfer.
On a four-slot (128K) connection, I see 90 Kbps on a good day.
