Japanese mobiles are not so different from their foreign counterparts
in terms of usability: basically bad with occasional flashes of
brilliance, Sony's side-mounted jog-dial address book falling into the
later group.
I think familiarity is all that makes current mobiles usable and
unfortunately, familiarity as opposed to good usability is not just
confined to mobile devices: how many of you will shutdown your computer
today by pressing the "start" button? ;)
