// Conclusion: Even with the most advanced service line-up, i-mode
// will never
// take off in Europe if they continue to offer only CRAP handsets.
Hasn't ePlus been offering an 'i-mode compatible' 3650 for a few months now?
I heard it was retailing for 50EU. Which means who on earth would buy the
NEC given they can get a phone with camera, java, Nokia logo for half the
price? even if it is bulky.
Although basically it isn't i-Mode compatible at all, unless everyone
rewrites their sites in xHTML.
Maybe Nokia chose to make a tactical handset subsidy here... hehe.

// There are a couple of reasons why it is a very little more popular in
// Holland:
//
// - KPN gave 20,000 phones away to employees of a bank in order
// to reach the
// 100,000 subs; I heard rumours that these 20,000 new i-mode subs were/are
// not the most fanatic i-mode users.
// - KPN is the largest carrier in Holland and they offered very
// cheap i-mode
// phones (the crap N21i model) for replacement; E-Plus is just a smaller
// player in Germany with less marketing power.
// - Commercial campaign of i-mode in Holland was not regarded as very
// successful. V-Live commercials were much better.
