some translations:

the Sharp 3D LCD for SH251iS uses straight vertical stripes as
parallax barriers, which can be turned off (transparent) in
the 2D mode. for 3D display, the horizontal resolution is
halved from 176 x 220 to 88 x 220. there is one fixed position
to view the 3D display but one can train himself to quickly get
that position. after that, the quality is at least better than
my "3D" mouse pad (Star Wars characters).

there are already someone out there making 3D wallpaper etc.,
for the new Sharp handset. I don't think it'll be that great,
but don't think it'll be a failure, either.

Sanyo uses zig-zagged barrier, two horizontal pixels for L/R
then two vertical pixels (don't know the details), to get
better 3D resolution. but the Sanyo LCD doesn't have a 2D mode.
Sanyo also have a large 3D prototype for two persons, but it's
quite dark for 4 pictures have to be generated simultaneously,
too many barriers.

one interesting thing is that some new technologies will be
used first in mobile phones - think about the problems and
the cost for a large 3D display for a PC (the small Sharp LCD
is now about 50% more expensive than a normal one). no need to
say handsets can be subsidized.
