Omron has mobile agent project called "e-jumon" (http://www.e-jumon.com/)
for KDDI that uses P2P communication. It is not via IR or bluetooth, but
then it does not require such special hardware. It uses au's short
messaging to directly communicates with other handset (through base
stations of course...)
