Tom,

You know, I have to disagree with you that the video clips sent between
users are less useful than ezmovie clips. The video download/upload feature
on the new A5301T is exactly the kind of extension of communications in
general and of camera phone functionality in particular that the consumer
truly wants and that leads to much greater organic usage, and hence, more
profit potential for KDDI.

Ezmovie, in its current form, is severely limited, and in absolute terms if
far too expensive versus its relative benefit to the public and KDDI. This
is likely the reason that the ezmovie functionality has not been emphasized
in KDDI's current line of handsets.

In terms of actual movies that people can watch on handsets, I would look
towards KDDI's implementation of EVDO next year, where the bandwidth will
greatly reduce the consumer pricing for mobile video, making it financially
possible to develop more worthwhile content than 15-sec blurbs.

Still, at the end of the day, short movies are, in my opinion, the best
extension of mobile communications functionality for the user, and besides,
with J-Phone already providing this service on 2.5G, it necessitated KDDI's
move into this area for competition's sake.

Mark
