It seems that for most users:
1. The functionality of the phone's PIM is severely limited when compared to those on a PC.
2. A central point of storage is necessary to make sure all data can be synched between private, work, and the different devices you use in each coontext.
I am not sure about the need for a site for actually scheduling, contact management, etc. However, a site that stores this data and synches it is very necessary. Moreover, as a 'just in case' feature, allowing you to access the site and view your info from a browser enabled device would be VERY convenient.

I'm not sure if a contact management site would
make sense in Japan, i-mode or otherwise. All phones have some
built in contact management software.... mine even had a schedule built in
with a calendar and alarm system and a history.... and its
really good (besides the standard contact stuff).
If someone made a site it would need to be better and since
built in software has no packet charges. .... and sites have no access to the
internals..... it would seem to me that it would be rare to find any sites.
