Rolf - this is right up our alley and not off topic at all!! I wish more
care and thought was taken in the delivery of content on mobile devices.
So much time and resources are spent in creation but not so much on
really making the product look it's best.

16x16 sounds a bit big for use on a keitai go for a 12x12, 10x10 or even
8x8 is possible on some devices. Just make sure you pick a good font at
the smaller sizes as there is nothing that bugs me (and users) more than
unreadable characters.
If you need any suggestions for fonts - just ask - I have engineers
specialising in fonts for mobile devices/applications!! :-)
