1) Do such things exist? Its been quite a few years since I've had the
dubious pleasure of developing software involving bar-code scanners. At that
point, it was challenge enough to get the scanners to read bar codes that
had dirt on them or were otherwise less than perfect. Even the best great
bar-code readers would have trouble reading a code printed at the resolution
of most keitai screens -- not to mention displayed on a non-reflective,
backlit surface. I can't image a barcode scanner that can reliably read a
stegnographically hidden barcode. OK, in theory, they are very easy to
imagine -- just filter out everything but a particular wavelength (and we
know the screens are all in perfect pantone color sync), but do such items
actually exist? Cool stuff if real!

2) Perhaps I am missing some big concept here, but what is the point of
having a bar-code displayed on a phone? Barcodes are a great way to get
information from a printed medium to an electronic one, but if the
information is already digital, why use such a primitive and limiting
format? It seems to me that Bluetooth, the IR port, the built-in Internet
connection or even an acoustic coupler would be more effective than
bar-codes displayed on the screen.

Just my two cents.

Tim
