Hi,
not owning a 3G phone, I'm wondering how much 3G services are actually
exploited in these early days. Can anything be said already?
It is natural that 3G phones are getting bought and that the number of
subscribers using them is growing - but just how much are all these
wonderful services used that many believe hold the promise of increasing
ARPUs and growing market share:
- video downloads
- music downloads
- video telephony
- other high-bandwidth dependent apps (Java)
Additionally:
- How much are response latencies still affecting 3G services now that pure
bandwidth shouldn't be the problem anymore?
- How well is the perception when using i-mode?
- Are low latency apps like multiplayer action games now more feasible or
still a problem? Are they offered yet?
Perhaps some of you early adopters would like to share your personal
experiences in your every-day use of 3G? Or that of people you know of. For
example:
- Do you actually use video telephony? Or just for demos?
- How is it like after getting used to it?
- Do you actually download video clips/music or just to see that it still
works?
- What happened to your phone bill? Is it actually added value your're
paying for or do you perceive it as demo cost?
- ...
I don't expect this to be a market validation as things are still in the
flow of course. It is fine to just experiment, but it would also be
interesting to see if there are already instances where these services have
entered normal lives.
Incredibly curious,
Marc
