Matsushita is the parent company of the National and Panasonic brands. There
is a large number of companies with variations of these names and they
belong to the same group.
As far as mobile phones I believe all (certainly i-mode) are branded (as far
as each carrier will allow it) as Panasonic, while it may mention Matsushita
in smaller letters somewhere ,ie. the battery pack.
Phone branding is quite different from Europe; the P in front of the P503i
is the only outward sign that it is manufactured by Panasonic. The SO503i
however has a "by Sony" to the right of the screen.
J-Phone is not selling any Sony handsets at the moment.
