Well, there are three carriers in the US already involved in different
levels of J2ME.
Nextel, is currently offering a variety of MIDP compliant handsets from
Motorola. Sprint PCS just recently announced their new J2ME enabled
handsets, best ones to come out by Q2 2002. Cingular has been working with
Java-enabled RIM pagers for some time now and will be introducing a Motorola
Java-enabled handset in H1 2002. No official statements from AT&T yet, even
though it looks promising. You'll be able to find a work in progress report
on the current Java adoption players, from device manufacturers to network
operators.
