Docomo's policy of "showing off' it's new FOMA phones in areas that will
not get the service for another 6 months is curious. We have a brand
spanking new "hi-tech" (lots of holographic vid displays, touch sensitive
table/screens, comfy seating, attractive female assistants happy to talk,
that kind of thing) "FOMA GATE" branded showroom down here in Sunny F.,
despite not getting the network until April next year....
It all considerably reduces the incentive to "upgrade" one's phone until
then... Curious strategy.
