This really has the classic smell FUD to me. "Aspects of the
standard"? "Have always been of the view that"? I would think that if
he could come right out and say, "They won't be interoperable," he would.
Basically, the rest of the world is getting their asses whupped by DoCoMo
when it comes to deploying anything resembling 3G. And they know that
DoCoMo stands a much better change of having a successful deployment than
anybody else, because they've already got millions of habitual data users.
Of course, that doesn't mean it will be successful. DoCoMo's 3G could
still fall flat on its face. I'm not sure that any of the competitors
should be cheering that, though, since it just makes their own chances
look much worse, too.
