David Cotter answered your scratchpad problem in that you need to make a jam
file
with the SPSize parameter set, all of the emulators and real phones require
it.
As for why your System.out.println() statement is not working, if you mean
it
is not working on a real phone you are correct. System.out/err/in are not
available to real phones. On an emulation environment System.out should
work
fine. If it is not then you have some other problems...
