We site up a ping tool that works from our server to the DoCoMo gateway
- or any other address. This does not tell you the latency of the actual
DoCoMo network which is extremely dependent on time and location as
Juergen points out.
i-mode phones can access our ping and trace tools at
http://www.X-9.com/tools/
At some point I plan to expand these tools to calculate latency inside
the actual DoCoMo network but doing this is going to be very tricky.

Subject: (keitai-l) Network latency when using HTTPConnection
Hi,
Does anyone have any metrics on the latency in the
iMode network?
I am designing at an iAppli that involves considerable
client-server interaction, making use of the
javax.microedition.io.Connector and
com.nttdocomo.io.HttpConnection classes.
Typical requests and responses will be very small - in
the order of a single 128 byte packet. My question is,
when I request a network resource in this way, what
latency can I expect to see from the iMode network?
Many thanks,
Chris
