(keitai-l) J-Phone and au phones

Hi all,

I am a application developer and a new comer to the
scene of mobile communications.

I was wondering about the elements working in between
the java-enabled phones and the web server.

Say, I want to take a look at the contents of a
particular url. How is the request routed? Through
whom? before it reaches the web server. and also how
and who routes it back to the phone?

If anybody could answer these in details, it would be
of great help to me.
