If you're the sysad, you can let it do anything you're brave enough to
allow. I just think you're going to end up hacking your webadmin
interface to do 95% of what you're thinking of, and you'll wait until
you have a real keyboard (or at least a palmtop) to do the remaining
5%. I can't rationalize the whole DEC VT ASCII terminal emulation,
esp. with memory so short. Even if you did want to do editing
of arbitrary files, I think it makes more sense to craft a very simple
editor/browser specifically for the phone environment.
Think about it -- do you want to type "ps <random selection of
flags>" on a keitai, and see the output there as it would come
ordinarily, when you could select "process list" from a menu of
buttons, go to a page of checkboxes to supply flag values, and
get a process list back that was formatted specifically for readability
on your phone? We're talking a few days (maybe hours, for you
speed demon coders out there) to write something like that.
Cf. Porting ssh/telnet to iAppli. As droid Ashe said in the
first Alien movie: "I won't say what your chances are, but....
you have my sympathy." (Ripley then flames him, so I'm
cringing already.)
