According to DoCoMos DoJa Developers guide
Section 9.4 page 97
SPSize: Optional Key
ScratchPad size. Specify number of bytes.
Regarding the ScrathcPad size that may be used by applications please
see the limitations explained in 3.2 . When this key is not mentioned the
scratchpad will not be used by the application.
in section 3.2 on page 40 there is some information like
......Application memory size is limited as follows , JAR File 10K
(where 1K=1024 bytes), Scratchpad is limited to 5K . If these sizes are
exceeded you may not be able to download the appli.
nb: some manufacturers may allow larger scratchpad sizes.....
so the answer is No, it is optional. Only required when your appli uses the
scratchpad.
