Yeah, Similarities are NOT coincidental. But I would not want to imply that
DoCoMo is directly behind or controlling or designed L-Mode.
On biz model comparison: There was an interesting L-Mode seminar by NTT (not
DoCoMo) yesterday in Tokyo and a comparative analysis is required. To begin
with, the expected growth rate is closer to the introduction of fax machines
than to that of i-mode !
And of interest to those into hardware ergonomics: My first impression is
that the screens are just SMALL for a home-based system targeting -among
others- an older population. We'll see how they evolve.
