Hi Reto,
Depending on the phone you can pretty much control the services available.
You can block outgoing calls for example, so that the phone only accepts
incoming, lock the imode service or not give out the password, just to limit
imode activity to subscribed sites, international can be disabled with a
quick call to DoCoMo (if enabled, probably not). For imode you can check
the packet fees beforing giving the phone to your friend and have a look
at them after to figure out the bill. You can also call a docomo number,
can remember it right now from your phone and find out the non international
call charges before and after, so you can pretty much control stuff like
that.
