Besides figures and all, I've been looking at people.
Here's some observations:
I've seen more and more and more people with 503i phones.
(I used to think who on earth is crazy enough to spend around 30,000 yen
for a phone when you can get a really great one from JPhone or
KDDI for 1 Yen!, but I've been proven wrong)
I've been given lots of bags showcasing all the i-appli games
with presents inside (from Shibuya again and again).
There's signs everywhere for I-appli. Finally right now I've
been buying quite a few keitais for testing various things. Whenever
I buy a keitai (at Bikku Kamera), (3 times now), each time the person
standing next to me is buying a 503i.
I thought it wouldn't really take off, and who really knows
how big the i-appli is, but the 503i series is going well even with
its big price tag. Coming back from lunch today I saw another person
walking down the street playing with their SO 503i. WOW!
And there are a lot of other DoCoMo users out there. Last week,
the guy next to me (total stranger) at the KaitenSushiya said he wanted to wait till the
504 series came out before he upgraded his docomo phone.
Besides Java, the new handsets have better resolution, better sound
quality, cool sound effects, and lots of other features which attract users.
