Juergen, every living language is in a constant state of flux, with new
words coming into use, and existing words changing both form and meaning.
The overall tendency in Western languages is toward terseness, abbreviation
and ellipsis (to a greateer degree among SMS users - but equally true for
the standard spoken and written language). In what sense can Japanese not be
compared to other languages in these respects?
