jcfac> Now bear with me here, but here are some reasons for IM on keitai's.
I try it:
jcfac> People can not talk on the phone while on the train.
Right, but they can send emails.
jcfac> Calling people is not the same as seeing they are "on line" (i.e. they
jcfac> have aim up and are on your buddy list).
Right, but Keitais are *never* switched off.
jcfac> Not all people on aim will be on the keitai.
This is true.
jcfac> VoiP is actually an option on aim (I don't know about the keitai
jcfac> version), so it is a possible use, just not the only one.
But on a Keitai this makes no sense...because it's already a Keitai.
jcfac> Chats are less formal than phone calls.
Right. Emails also.
jcfac> aim is much cheaper than a phone call.
Not exactly true...if the application is running all the time, you
transfer a lot of data...and have to pay your packet charge.
Any statistics, anybody?
Just my 2 yen,
J.
